Calibrate to mark (the scale of a
measuring instrument) so that reading can be made in the appropriate
units. Industry Calibration The lack of ambiguity
in the definition still allows companies to adopt there own
meanings. However, most quality test and measurement organisations
understand calibration to mean ensuring that the instrument reads
appropriately. This includes the adjustment of the instrument
whether it is inside or outside of the manufacturers
specification. Results are taken both before and after any
adjustments.
